We had an absolutely amazing 3 day weekend in Hamburg…amazing. I’ll try not to go on and on, and plan to save information about the knitting on holiday and Erica’s 2nd birthday for other posts, or this one might get a bit overwhelming!
We arrived late Friday night via Jet2.com and Leeds-Bradford International Airport. I can’t say enough about how quick and easy it was to fly through a smaller airport, on a smaller plane. No real delays, no real crowds, and both coming and going our bags were there sitting when we made it through security!
Not only were our flights quick and easy, but the weather couldn’t have been more beautiful…really. Mid to upper 70s all weekend, and sunshine like I haven’t seen yet this year.

Saturday was mostly reserved for walking around and exploring in Hamburg, around the lake, and in the Botanical Gardens.
Sunday was Erica’s secret birthday (because she thought that we were going to Tropical World for her birthday, and as we were without gifts and cakes, we are really going to celebrate on Wednesday). We went to Hagenbeck Tierpark, a zoo in Hamburg. It was enormous and amazing…we spent almost 4 1/2 hours there.

Monday was a glorious last day–the weather cooperated again, and we spent the morning walking around again, exploring the gardens some more, and making the trek to the bus station.
All in all, we had a wonderful trip! I highly recommend Hamburg, especially if you can put in an order for some of the beautiful weather we got on our trip! The girls really did such a great job overall, though their sleep wasn’t as sound as we would have liked.
We are so glad that Grandma was there to share it with us! In fact, we’re talking about Ireland on her next visit. Cheers!
